Thu, 02 Sep 2010 10:10:05 +0200 (Reuters) - Twelve movable metal type blocks are displayed for the media at a gallery in Seoul September 2, 2010. According to local media, Nam Kwon-heui, a professor at Kyungpook National University, claimed that he has discovered the movable metal type blocks, which predates the world's oldest book "Jikji" by over a hundred years. The bibliography professor said the metal type blocks, owned by a gallery in Seoul, are believed to have been used to publish books in the early 13th century, at least 138 years before Jikji, according to local media. "Jikji" was published in Heungdeok Temple in 1377 and registered as the world’s oldest metalloid type in 2001 by UNESCO. It is unknown where the metal type blocks were first discovered.
